Cheese Dill Quick Bread A recipe from the Cottonwood Hospital Volunteer Auxillary 1 loaf 2 cups unsifted flour 2 T. Sugar 3 t. baking powder 1 t. salt 1 T. dill seed or weed 1 1/4 cup grated cheddar 2 T. minced onion 1 beaten egg 1 cup milk 3 T. melted shortening Measure dry ingredients, stir to blend, but do not sift. Combine egg, milk and shortening, add all-at-once to dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened. Put in greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. [use hard shortening, like Crisco, to grease pan with, liquid oils may cause brad to stick to sides and tear.] Bake 50-55 minutes at 350 degrees. Check bread at about 45 minutes because it dries out quickly. Use a dry spaghetti stick to test if bread is done. *
