Nana’s Dilly Bread 1 Tbs. active dry yeast ¼ c. warm water 1 c. creamed cottage cheese 2 Tbs. sugar 2 Tbs. instant dried onion 1 Tbs. butter, melted 2 tsp. dill seed 1 tsp. salt ½ tsp. baking soda 1 egg 2-3 c. flour (more, if needed, but dough will be sticky) Sprinkle dry yeast over the warm water; heat the cottage cheese to lukewarm . Combine in a mixing bowl: sugar, onion, butter, salt, dill seed, soda, and the egg. Then add the yeast and cottage cheese. Add flour, knead and shape. Cover and let rise until doubled; gently turn into a well-greased (I use Crisco) casserole and let rise again. Bake on the 3rd oven rack at 350 for 25-35 min – cover loosely with foil if top browns early.
